About the Call

The NMSU University Art Gallery (UAG) and the NMSU Zuhl Museum are pleased to announce a call for geological-inspired art for a student show that will accompany its fall exhibition, GEOMAGIC: Art, Science and the Zuhl Collection. GEOMAGIC will transform the gallery into a visual laboratory and interdisciplinary space that juxtaposes artist-made objects with geological specimen. With NEOMAGIC, the student version of the UAG’s GEOMAGIC, It is our intention to provide NMSU students an opportunity to show their work for an entire semester in conjunction with an exhibition featuring internationally renowned artists.

 

We seek submissions for artworks in all media, including but not limited to: ceramics, glass, sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, new media, video, performance, sound, and installation. Series of works are welcome. Please note: Space is limited.

 

You may submit up to three entries for review. For each entry, you will need a digital image, complete label information, dimensions, and a description of the artwork’s themes and concepts.

 

All NMSU students are eligible to participate

A maximum of 15 works will be selected for this exhibition.

 

Digital Image Specs

All images should be captured at 72 DPI in JPEG format for web resolution, with pixel dimensions no larger than 1280 on the longest side. If submitting a video, you may provide us with a link to Vimeo or another host site.

 

How to apply

  1. If you are not yet registered for the Juried Student Show canvas site (this is the same one used for our annual Juried Student Shows), you may gain access by emailing your full name and NMSU email address to artglry@nmsu.edu.
  2. Log onto Canvas and find “UAG Juried Student Show” in your courses.
  3. The application form is available on Canvas under “Announcements.” Click the “Assignments” link and upload your application form/images to the Assignment called “NEOMAGIC: 2016 Zuhl Student Exhibition”. Click on “Submit Assignment” and wait for a confirmation message that your submission has been accepted.
